ECHO Drive
A fleet app for Eastern Carolina Housing Organization. Staff can reserve shared vehicles, record inspections and trips, and save fuel receipts on iOS, Android, or the web.
The need
ECHO needed a way for staff to find vehicles across its offices and book them without conflicting reservations. Vehicle inspections, mileage, safety issues, and fuel receipts also needed to stay connected to the right trip.
The approach
We built one app for reservations, vehicle inspections, trips, and fuel receipts. Staff can search by voice or text, or open a vehicle’s record by tapping or scanning its ID card. The app runs on iPhone, iPad, and Android, with a browser version for desktop use.
What the app does
- Availability search by location, date, time, duration, vehicle details, and staff favorites
- Natural-language voice search that can move directly from a request to a matching booking
- Vehicle schedules, conflict-aware reservations, extensions, early returns, and multiple trips per reservation
- Pre-trip and post-trip mileage confirmation, walk-around inspections, and photo-backed defect reporting
- Safety escalation that can remove an unsafe vehicle from service and immediately notify the organization
- Fuel receipt scanning with AI-assisted detail entry for staff review and correction
- Apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android, plus a desktop browser version
Our role
We planned the app with ECHO, designed and built it, tested and released it, and wrote the user documentation. We also provide ongoing support.
Outcome
Staff can follow a reservation from booking through vehicle return in one system. They can check availability, record safety inspections, report defects with photos, review fuel details, and log multiple trips under one reservation.
